Pakistan\u2019s seven provinces and territories all have very different vibes. In Islamabad – Pakistan\u2019s capital – women move freely and intermingle with men, with jeans outnumbering hijabs. Hospitality is so deeply ingrained in Pakistani culture that many locals feel obliged to offer to pay for a foreigner\u2019s meal or bus ticket, even if money is short.<\/p>\n

A caveat: despite the efforts of social activists, Pakistan remains a largely conservative, male-dominated society. In some regions (but by no means all), this can seriously hamper the ability of female and openly LGBTIQ+ travelers to move and mingle freely.<\/p>\n
